New Furniture

Clint and I have bought several new pieces of furniture since we have been married and I thought I would share some photos! We were so blessed to receive lots of gift cards and money from the wedding, so we have spent very little on all of these new pieces.

The first thing that we bought was this really cute black kitchen table and chairs from Target. It was available in store so we didn't have to wait to have someplace to sit and eat our meals. We really love how it pops with our newly painted kitchen walls!

We also bought a matching black buffet for the dining room that will hold all of my awesome serving platters and over sized dishes that don't fit in the cabinets.

We were so blessed to receive our dining room table as a wedding gift. We ordered all of the matching chairs and we love how it coordinates with the kitchen table. As you can see, I have a lot of stuff that needs to be put inside of the buffet!

I had been wanting a small "Starbucks chair" for my office so I have a place to sit and read and have visitors in my office. I dragged Clint into Target a couple days ago and saw that this cute black leather chair I had my eye on was 30% off! And it was the last one in the store! Of course I couldn't pass it up! Thank you, Jesus! Now I am looking a cute floor lamp to put next to it.

Clint also needed a place for me to come and sit in his studio and have his friends chill. After some searching, he found this awesome red couch. it folds down to create a bed when needed. It is really comfy and totally transforms the room into a studio.

The biggest new furniture purchase is Clint's desk. Clint runs two businesses from home and also has a recording studio. He had been using a mini sized lunch table for the past couple years and it definitely wasn't doing the job. He really deserved to have a desk that would meet all of his needs. Clint had been eying this desk from Pottery Barn for the last couple years. We looked several other places for desks but none of them were as nice as this one...so he ordered it! And it is amazing! Clint put it together right away and it makes such an awesome statement in his room. And with the hutch he has lots of organizing space. I am so happy that he finally has a desk of his own!

Well, that's all the furniture for now and probably will be for a little while. Clint and I have our eye on some couches we like but we're gonna have to save up before we make that big purchase. We can't to be able to invite people over to watch movies!

Painting

Clint and I are still working on getting settled into our new home. We love being able to spread out all of our junk among rooms instead of having to cram it all into a bedroom. One of the first upgrades that we did to the house was repaint the shutters. As you can see above, they REALLY needed it! Clint spent his whole day off from school on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day sanding and repainting them. They look soooo much better now!

The house looks about 10 times cuter on the outside than it did before! Sorry, I don't have an after picture. You'll just have to come over and see for yourself!

After we got the shutters painted, we spent two whole Saturdays (note to self: painting red takes about 5 coats of paint) repainting the kitchen. As you can see in the photo below, there was one wall in the kitchen that was an ugly brownish red color. Whoever had painted it before did a very poor job and I had to go back and touch up the ceiling and baseboard with white. Then we painted all of the walls in the kitchen with a much brighter and fun color of red! We love how it pops with our new black kitchen table!

Our friend Eric came over the first Saturday and while he was helping, he left his mark on our kitchen.

It looks so cute now! I'll post some more photos of it next!

Happy Birthday, Clint!

Clint celebrated his 22nd birthday on January 28th! For dinner, Clint and I went to eat with two of our favorite friends, Jermaine and Deanna. We went to Shoguns which is one of Clint's favorite restaurants. It's yummy Japanese food cooked in front of you with massively large portions!

The following night, we went to eat with Clint's family at Outback Steakhouse (another of Clint's favorite places). I made him his very first cake from his new wife. He requested yellow cake with chocolate frosting...so that's what I did. It was really yummy!

Happy birthday, Clint! I love you!

P.S. Sorry about the crummy photos! My Canon is still broken. I'm working really hard to upgrade to a new camera!

The Honeymoon: January 5-12, 2008

Clint and I were so very blessed to be able to go to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico for 7 whole days! We had so much fun traveling together and staying at the Sandos Caracol Beach Resort and Spa. We stayed at the all-inclusive resort the whole time and enjoyed sleeping in late, eating yummy Mexican food, laying by the beach or pool and drinking lots of pina coladas, strawberry daquiris and Miami Vices! It was so relaxing and we loved having a whole week just to ourselves with no plans or distractions. It was an amazing week! Here are the photos!
